The Board is accountable to our members and oversees the IA’s activities. It’s made up of senior leaders from a broad range of IA member firms. Keith Skeoch - Chair Chairman, ASI Research Institute, Standard Life Aberdeen Keith became Co-Chief Executive in 2017 and sole CEO in 2019. He was formerly CEO of Standard Life, having been a Director since 2006 and CEO of Standard Life Investments since 2004, which he joined in 1999 as Chief Investment Officer. Before that, he spent nearly 20 years at James Capel & Company in various roles, including Chief Economist and Managing Director International Equities. He’s a Non-Executive Director of the Financial Reporting Council and Director of the Investment Association. Michelle Scrimgeour - Deputy Chair Chief Executive Officer -Legal & General Investment Management. Before taking up her current position, Michelle was at Columbia Threadneedle Investment, which she joined as CEO EMEA in 2017. She’s also a member of the executive leadership team of Ameriprise Financial. Michelle was previously Chief Risk Officer at M&G Investments and before that had an extensive career at Blackrock (previously Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and Mercury Asset Management), where she was a member of the European Executive Committee and held several senior roles across the business. Patrick Thomson - Deputy Chair Chief Executive Officer - EMEA, J.P. Morgan Asset Management As well as his role as CEO for EMEA, Patrick is also International Head of Institutional Clients for JP Morgan Asset Management. He’s a member of JPMAM’s Operating Committee and a director of JPMAM (UK), JPMIM Inc. and JP Morgan Funds. Patrick joined JP Morgan Asset Management in 1995 and was based in Singapore 2000-2005 as Global Head of Sovereigns, with extensive experience in reserves management in Asia and the Middle East. Maxime Carmignac Managing Director, Carmignac Gestion A graduate of the ESSEC Business School, Maxime joined Carmignac Gestion in 2006 as an analyst, before becoming a fund manager. She has been a Member of the Group’s Board of Directors since 2008. Before that, she worked for various management companies in New York and London. She was also a consultant for consultancy firm McKinsey and a financial analyst at Lazard Frères and Morgan Stanley. Maxime is now also a member of Carmignac Group's Strategic Development Committee. Michael Cohen Portfolio Manager, Capital International Michael is an equity portfolio manager at Capital Group with 24 years of investment experience, 15 at Capital. Earlier in his career, as an equity investment analyst at Capital, Michael covered European utilities and Israeli companies. Before Capital, he was a research analyst with Schroders and Salomon Brothers. He holds an MBA from the London Business School and a bachelor’s degree in accounting and economics from Tel Aviv University. Caroline Connellan Chief Executive Officer, Brooks MacDonald Group Caroline joined Brooks Macdonald in 2017 from HSBC where she was Head of UK Premier and Wealth. Before this she held several senior corporate roles and gained extensive experience in the wealth and asset management sector as a consultant at McKinsey. Caroline started her career as a Fund Manager with Newton Investment Management. Chris Cummings Chief Executive Chris joined the IA in 2016 from TCUK, which he set up and ran as CEO for seven years. He sits on the Treasury’s Asset Management Taskforce, the Boards of EFAMA (European Fund and Asset Management Association) and IIFA (International Investment Funds Association). He was previously a member of the FCA’s Regulatory Decisions Committee and the FCO’s Diplomatic Excellence Panel. Philippe D'Orgeval Chief Executive Officer, Amundi Asset Management In 1995, Philippe started his career at Rothschild Gestion as a Portfolio Manager and Buy-Side Analyst for four years before joining Pargesa in 1999 as a Portfolio Manager and Analyst. In 2001 he joined AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) as Head of Fund Research and in 2003 was appointed CIO of AXA Multimanager Ltd in London. In 2006, he joined the global risk department and became Chief Risk Officer in 2010. Philippe was then promoted to Head of AXA IM UK in 2016. Philippe holds postgraduate degrees in Finance and Economics from ESSEC and the University of Orléans, respectively. He has a Master’s in Finance from the University of Paris IX Dauphine. He is also a CFA charterholder. Marie Dzanis Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Northern Trust Asset Management Marie Dzanis heads Northern Trust Asset Management in EMEA. With 25 years of experience in investment management, she is a recognised industry leader. Her multifacted career began as a financial advisor and subsequently includes experience in securities lending and trading, product development, product sales, sales management and branch management. Prior to joining Northern Trust in 2011, she held executive and leadership positions at iShares/Blackrock, JPMorgan Asset Management and Smith Barney. Rachel Elwell Chief Executive Officer, Border to Coast Rachel Elwell joined Border to Coast with over twenty years’ experience of working in pensions and institutional investment, both as a consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers and latterly at Royal London. In this role she was responsible for both Royal London’s own pension arrangements and for investment strategy and oversight of internal and external management of its insurance assets totalling £80 billion. Rachel is a Cambridge maths graduate and qualified actuary. Andrew Formica Chief Executive Officer, Jupiter Asset Management Ltd Andrew has over 25 years experience in the investment management industry and is a qualified actuary, both in Australia and the UK. He brings strong leadership skills and has a proven track record of implementing successful business strategies. Before joining Jupiter he was CEO of Henderson Global Investors, becoming Co-Chief Executive of Janus Henderson on the merger with Janus Capital in 2017. During his time at Henderson and its predecessor businesses he held various roles including equity fund manager and head of equities. Peter Horrell Managing Director UK Business, Fidelity International Peter joined Fidelity International as Managing Director of its UK Business in 2015. He is responsible for managing the company’s significant and growing UK Business and is a member of its Global Operating Committee. Before joining Fidelity, Peter held several senior positions at Barclays, most recently CEO, Wealth and Investment Management. He has extensive experience across financial services, having led teams in Wealth and Investment Management, Corporate Banking and Retail Banking divisions during his 24-year career at Barclays. Rachel Lord Senior Managing Director, Blackrock Alongside her current role, Rachel is also a member of the Global Executive Committee and chairs the EMEA Executive Committee. She is also the Global Executive Sponsor of the Women's Initiative Network. Rachel joined Blackrock in 2013. Before taking on her current role in 2017, she was Blackrock EMEA’s Head of iShares and Head of Global Clients, ETF and Index Investments. She graduated in 1987 from the University of Leeds with a BA (Hons) First Class in International History & Politics and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1990. Kim McFarland Finance Director, Ninety One Kim joined the company in 1993 as its Chief Financial Officer and is also an Executive Director. She has over 25 years of experience working globally in the financial services industry. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town. Kim also serves on the board of Governors of the Graduate School at the University of Cape Town and was named Business Woman of the Year in South Africa in 2002. Nicolas Moreau Chief Executive Officer, HSBC Global Asset Management Nicolas Moreau was appointed CEO of HSBC AM in August 2019. Former head of AXA France and Deutsche Bank’s DWS unit, he replaced Sri Chandrasekharan. Following his exit from DWS, Moreau had moved into several advisory roles and launched his own company, Ladbroke Advisory, which focused on working with asset managers and fintech firms on strategy, products, distribution and takeovers. Mike O"Shea Chief Executive Officer, Premier Miton Group Mike was appointed CEO of Premier Asset Management in 2005. He began his career as a private client portfolio manager and first joined Premier in 1987. Mike has overseen the company’s development from a broader-based financial services group into a highly focused and fast-growing investment management business. Mike was appointed to the Board of the Investment Association in 2015. Hanneke Smits Chief Executive Officer, Newton Investment Management Hanneke Smits joined Newton Investment Management in 2016 as CEO. She was previously Executive Committee Member and Chief Investment Officer at private equity firm Adams Street Partners. Hanneke is Chair of Impetus-PEF, a venture philanthropy organisation which backs charities that transform the lives of disadvantaged young people. She’s also co-founder and former Chair of Level 20, a not-for-profit organisation set up in 2015 to inspire women to join and succeed in the private equity industry.
