The Sectors Committee provides oversight of the IA’s activities relating to its sector classification scheme, ultimately, to help consumers and their advisors find groups of similar funds and compare them where appropriate.
In particular:
- identify sets of similar funds unrepresented in the sector framework that investors may wish to group
- define new sectors, while ensuring existing sector definitions remain relevant
- monitor funds to ensure compliance with sector rules
- foster collaboration between IA committees and appoint working groups where beneficial
- represent member firms and major fund data providers
- keep abreast of developments in other relevant sector schemes.
