IA’s Global Emerging Markets Bonds sector divided into three new sectors

Wednesday 8 January 2020

The IA’s Global Emerging Markets Bonds sector has been divided into three new sectors, with the change effective as of 1st January 2020. The existing 69 funds can now been found in one of the sectors below:

  • Global Emerging Markets Bonds – Hard Currency (29 funds)
  • Global Emerging Markets Bonds – Local Currency (26 funds)
  • Global Emerging Markets Bonds – Blended (14 funds)

The decision to divide the sector was taken in consultation with IA members, with the aim of better classifying the funds based on the use of hard or local currencies.

Jonathan Lipkin, Director for Policy, Strategy & Research at the Investment Association, said:

“We are continually monitoring the fund market to ensure that all of the IA sectors reflect the wide range of products the investment management industry has to offer UK savers. The division of the Global Emerging Markets Bonds sector will make it easier for savers and their advisers to find information and make like-for-like comparisons.”
