BMR: Practical considerations for firms to comply with the Benchmark Regulation

14:00

The EU’s landmark Benchmarks Regulation (BMR) came fully into effect on 1st January 2018, with transitional arrangements for third country benchmarks that now extend until the end of 2021. Under the BMR, benchmark users can only use benchmarks from authorised or registered benchmark administrators.

Complying with this regulation can be challenging and a source of uncertainty as firms need to simultaneously manage their inventory of benchmarks as well as reflect the impact of multiple external changes to the authorisation status of administrators and individual benchmarks, not forgetting the impact of major developments such as Brexit, that further complicate matters.

The aim of this webinar is to provide information on the current status of regulation, such as the treatment of critical and third-country benchmarks, including the treatment of UK administered benchmarks, as well as giving insights on the implementation challenges faced by firms in practice.

What the webinar will cover:

  • Current state of play
  • Climate Benchmarks / ESG
  • Commodity indices - in or out of scope
  • Brexit – UK as a third country
