Oxera report

The contribution of asset management to the UK economy 

Economic consultants Oxera published an independent report, commissioned by the Investment Association, assessing the contribution of the asset management industry to the UK economy.

The Oxera research shows that asset managers:

• Provided 60% of new capital market financing in recent year
• Hold UK equities for around six years
• Stepped in to help companies during the credit crunch in 2009
• Provide easy access to a broad range of asset classes that would otherwise be out of reach for individual investors
