Chris Cummings elected Chair of the International Investment Funds Association

Chris Cummings, Chief Executive of the Investment Association (IA), has today been elected Board Chair of the International Investment Funds Association (IIFA), a global organization whose members are national and regional associations representing the investment funds industry.

Chris was elected at the IIFA annual conference which is taking place this year in London from 24-26 October. Twenty-six countries are represented at the conference, which is carbon neutral for the first time. The IIFA seeks to promote the protection of investment fund investors, facilitate the growth of the investment funds industry internationally, act as a medium for the advancement of understanding of the investment fund business around the world, and encourage adherence to high ethical standards by all participants in the industry.

Chris Cummings, Chief Executive of the IA said:

“Investment management is a truly global industry and the IIFA is a crucial forum through which we can navigate the many issues affecting the industry internationally. I’m very pleased to have been elected Chair of the IIFA Board and I look forward to helping deliver our shared mission to make investment management work better.

“Now more than ever the industry has a role to play to help solve the economic challenges we all face, and to help savers around the world prepare for a more financially secure future.”

Chris Cummings replaces José Carlos, CEO of the Brazilian Financial and Capital Markets Association, as IIFA Chair. He is the first representative from Britain to hold the position. The IIFA Board Chair appointment is for a two-year term.

Sally Wong, Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Investment Funds Association has also been appointed as Deputy Chair of the IIFA Board.
