IA comment on Andy Burnham becoming Prime Minister

Commenting on Andy Burnham becoming Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, John Owen, Chief Executive of the Investment Association, said:

“We look forward to working closely with Andy Burnham and his new government, including John Healey as Chancellor of the Exchequer on our shared goals to strengthen household financial resilience and drive growth across the UK.

"Our industry looks after the savings of millions of people in the UK, mainly through workplace pensions and ISAs, investing them for the long term to help households build financial resilience and enjoy greater security in retirement.

"Through the Invest for the Future campaign, we are also building confidence and understanding so more families can see how investing can support their long-term financial wellbeing, taking that conversation to communities right across the UK – from Manchester to Cardiff, Norwich to Glasgow, and Leeds to Bristol.

"By working together across government and industry, we can help more people secure their financial futures, while unlocking investment to support sustainable growth across the UK.”
