IA comments on the UK Stewardship Code 2026
Commenting on the publication of the UK Stewardship Code 2026, Andrew Ninian, Director, Stewardship, Risk and Tax at the Investment Association said: “The Stewardship Code is an important tool for setting best practice standards for stewardship in the UK and is followed by many others around the world. The new Code provides a clear focus on stewardship delivering long term sustainable value for clients whilst meeting any specific objectives and has been broadly supported by the investment industry. A streamlined Code and reporting process has the potential to be more effective, while continuing to drive up standards and deliver an effective market for stewardship. The FRC have consulted extensively over the last year, and in the final Code have addressed concerns of the industry on the use of the term sustainable, the frequency of reporting and feedback process and gives current signatories a year to transition to the new Code." |
